On December 4, the Business Matching & Friends of New South Wales (NSW) Reception, hosted by the Trade and Investment Office of the Government of New South Wales, Australia, was successfully concluded at the Park Hyatt Guangzhou. This event marked the second specialized economic and trade matchmaking session jointly held in Guangzhou in 2025. Following the fruitful results of the May business matching event earlier this year, the renewed collaboration once again demonstrated the enduring partnership and strong mutual trust between the two sides. Focusing on cooperation within the China–Australia food industry, the event attracted numerous brand representatives and industry professionals eager to explore new opportunities together.

At the opening of the event, Rebecca McPhee, Deputy Secretary of Investment NSW, delivered a welcome speech congratulating the successful launch of the event and highlighting the strategic importance of China–Australia food trade. She pointed out that the gathering brought together 21 outstanding NSW enterprises specializing in wine, health foods, dairy products, seafood, nutritional supplements, and snack foods. Through precise pre-event matching, the agenda prioritized practical engagement between the food sector and consumer health industries. With NSW’s strengths in offering premium, safe, and sustainably produced goods that closely align with China’s evolving consumer demands, Investment NSW pledged continued support for bilateral cooperation.

Following her remarks, the Guangdong Imported Food Association, serving as the event’s partner organization, also addressed attendees. Secretary-General Tan expressed sincere gratitude to the NSW Government for its trust in the Association and recalled the success of multiple past business matchmaking sessions, which had garnered wide acclaim from participants. She further analyzed current market trends, noting that rising demand in China for high-quality, health-oriented food products aligns perfectly with NSW’s supply advantages. From January to May 2025, Guangdong saw a significant increase in imports of agricultural products from Australia, underscoring the province’s enormous potential as a trade hub. The Association looks forward to deepening collaboration with the NSW Government, leveraging accumulated mutual trust and mature mechanisms to further streamline trade channels and bring more distinctive NSW products to the Chinese market.

This business matching session fully leveraged the platform role of the Guangdong Imported Food Association, actively facilitating deeper cooperation between China and Australia in the food sector while bringing richer selections of premium international products to Chinese consumers. Beyond being a strategically significant trade and investment promotion event, it served as a gateway connecting NSW enterprises directly with the Chinese market. Moving forward, the Association plans to organize additional online and offline initiatives to facilitate the introduction of more outstanding overseas food products into China.
